Between 1999 and 2004, the chain was the second fastest growing retailer in the world. On 24 August 2006, Rite Aid said that to get 1,858 Brooks and Eckerd operations of Jean Coutu for US $ 1.45bn in cash and the issuance of shares, giving Jean Coutu 32% stake in Rite Aid. [4] Rite Aid announced the acquisition completed on 4 June 2007.
In July 2013, Coutu was continued at the last photo Rite Aid that was on sale. Jean Coutu holds no shares of Rite Aid.
